If you’re looking for a shot at happy ever after then perhaps you should beam your searchlight at the Scandinavian countries.
According to a report released by Columbia University’s Earth Institute, the world’s top 5 happiest countries
in the world are in the Scandinavian region. Topping the list as the world’s happiest country is Denmark. In
second place is Norway followed by Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden bringing in the rear as the top 5 happiest countries in the world.
On the flip side, the least happy countries in the world dwell in sub-Saharan Africa. Coming in last on the list of happiest countries in the world is West African country and not-so-close Nigerian neighbour, Togo. Next is Benin Republic, Central African Republic, Burundi and Rwanda.
Nigerians who were once adjudged the happiest people in the world now place number 82 on the list while our West African neighbour, Ghana comes in at 86 and South Africa comes in at 96.
World power, United States is not quite the happy place as it places 17 on the list while the United Kingdom lags behind at number 22. Canada on the other hand fares much better than their sister country, the United States as it comes in at number 6, narrowly missing out the top 5 spot.
So, do you agree with the list? Do you think the Scandinavian countries are the happiest and does Nigeria deserve to be placed at number 82 on the list?
